About GTA WA Association

"Fostering growth of quality and sustainable employment and

training outcomes through Group Training"  GTA WA 2007

Group Training Australia, Western Australia is the peak body representing member Group Training Organisations in Western Australia.  GTA WA was incorporated in 1993 as a not-for-profit Association.

Group Training Organisations employ the largest number of apprentices and trainees in Western Australia with nearly 5000 apprentices and trainees.  23% of apprentices are employed by Group Training, 42% of these apprentices are in the Building and Construction industry.  41% of apprentices and trainees are employed by Group Training Organisations in regional WA.

A Group Training Organisation (GTO) employs apprentices and trainees and places them with host employers for the duration of their training contract.

The GTO is responsible for the quality and continuity of the apprentices' and trainees' employment and training and also provides any additional support required to ensure the successful completion of the training qualification.

Our STRATEGIC OBJECTIVES are to:

  • To be an effective and focused association
  • To undertak an effective advocacy and lobbying role
  • To raise the GTA WA and Group Training generally
  • To maintain and improve membership services

The Association provides a wide range of services and conducts a number of activities as part of our strategic plan to enhance the effectiveness of member Group Training Organisations.

GTA WA members are located throughout metropolitan and regional Western Australia and they deliver services to a range of industries.

To operate in Western Australia, GTOs must first be registered with the WA Department of Training and Workforce Development.
